Brooklyn since 2017

We make
twelve shoes

And we can tell you exactly why each one exists, who tested it, and what we changed after they did.

Our story

Started in a
garage in
Greenpoint

In 2017 two of us were coaching a running club out of a rented storefront in Brooklyn. Every week someone showed up in shoes that were wrong for their gait, wrong for their weight, or simply worn through. The good options cost more than a month of rent. The affordable ones fell apart by week six.

So we started making our own. The first run was 60 pairs, hand-numbered, sold to people we knew by name. They ran in them, told us exactly what hurt, and we changed the shoe. That loop never stopped. It is still how every Velocite silhouette gets made.

We keep the line at twelve shoes on purpose. Twelve is what we can test properly, restock reliably and stand behind for two full years. Anything more and we would be guessing.

If a shoe does not earn 400 tested miles, it does not get a name, a box or a place in the line.

How we build

Four steps,
no shortcuts

  1. Sketch and argue

Every shoe starts as a problem someone brought us: a hot spot, a blister, a sole that gave out at mile 200. We design against the complaint, not the trend.

  2. Build the ugly one

The first sample is always unattractive and always informative. We put it on ten pairs of feet before anyone talks about colour.

  3. Run it into the ground

Testers log 400 miles minimum across road, track, gravel and gym floor. We read every note. Most shoes go back to step one at least twice.

  4. Make it, then stand behind it

Production runs stay small so quality stays consistent. Two-year warranty, 60-day wear test, no fine print about how you used them.

Impact

Fewer shoes,
made better

The most sustainable shoe is the one you do not have to replace. We build for a long life first and count the material savings second.

68% recycled

Uppers, laces and packaging are made from post-consumer material. We publish the exact percentage on every product box.

Two factories, both audited

We work with two partners in Portugal and Vietnam. Both are independently audited twice a year and we publish the reports.

Resole, do not replace

Send a worn pair back and we resole it for the cost of shipping. Over 4,000 pairs have gone back out instead of into landfill.

Community

Run with us
on Thursdays

The Greenpoint club still meets at 7pm every Thursday outside our flagship. Five kilometres, every pace welcome, coffee after. Bring whatever shoes you own. If yours are done, we will lend you a test pair for the night.
